The 63rd Sapporo Snow Festival is once again on the calendar from Monday February 6th through to Sunday February 12th 2012. With over 2 million people coming to visit Sapporo's snow festival you can be assured it is worthwhile.
Once again located in three sites, the Odori Site, Susukino Site and Tsu Dome Site this year's snow festival will not disappoint. With over 100 small statues and a dozen large sculptures that host several concerts over the festivities, the 1.5 kilometre long Odori Park will amaze anyone.
Here's a tip if you want to view the park from above and really see how beautiful the festival is: Climb to the observatory deck of the Sapporo TV Tower between 09.00 and 22.30 at the eastern end of the park and enjoy the panoramic views. Admission cost is 700 yen.
The Susukino Sites is only one subway stop from Odori Park and exhibits about 100 ice sculptures. But if you're looking for a more family orientated site than Tsu Dome is the one for you. With three different types of snow slides, snow rafting, and a large variety of food stands available this site has all your family needs for a great adventure in the snow.
With more and more snow sculptures added to each site yearly, this festival is a must see for any visitor to the area. For more information on the Sapporo Snow Festival 2012 visit
